Why the Red Ring Appears
The red ring is an intentional alert mechanism. Some of the most common reasons include:

Echo Dot devices come with a dedicated microphone button. Pressing it disables Alexa from listening, and the LED ring turns solid red as a visual confirmation.
Effect:Alexa will not respond to “Alexa” commands
Solution:Press the microphone button again to enable voice detection - 2Device Not Connected to Wi-Fi
A red ring may also indicate a network connectivity issue. If your Echo Dot cannot connect to Wi-Fi, it may fail to process commands, stream content, or respond to app requests.
Effect:Device may fail to process commands
Solution:Reconnect your Echo Dot to the correct network via the Alexa app
